Your electric bike will wear at different rates depending on how much you use it. If you do much greater mileage than average on your electric bike you may find that you have to replace or service components more often. The timings below are purely a guide. The items marked with a ‘B’ you should be able to do by yourself, if you have some understanding of the components you are working with and a calibrated torque wrench. Every ride, something you can do yourself

Check the lighting –  Check if still works.
Front Tire – Check if there is enough pressure in the front tire.
Rear Tire –  Check if there is enough pressure in the rear tire.
Wheel nuts Check the tread and sidewalls.
Brake levers – Check if they do not touch the grips during braking.
Chain – Check if the chain is in good condition.
Cranks – Check for free play and retighten if required.

Once per month, something you can do yourself

Rim brakes front – Check the wearing of the pads.
Rim brakes rear – Check the wearing of the pads.
Disk brakes front – Check the wearing of the pads.
Disk brakes rear – Check the wearing of the pads.
Brake cables – Check for splits or damages.
Wheels – Check for cracks and loose or damaged spokes.
Headset – Check for free play.
Metal – Check the polish of the metal.
Pedals – Check for damages or cracks.
Nuts and bolts – Check and if necessary retighten.

Once per month, preferably a mechanic

Fork – Check for damages and the condition of the welds.
Bottom bracket – Check for free play.

Once per year, definitely a job for a mechanic

Bottom bracket – Grease and inspect.
Headset – Grease

Other, not every month but definitely not every year but certainly done by a mechanic.

Fork – Check for damages and the condition of the weld after a crash.
Fork – Replace the front fork after a crash or fall.
Chain – Replace the chain every 1000 kilometers.
Wheels – When needed retrue.
Handlebars – Check for damages and the condition of the welds.
Handlebars – replace after a crash or fall.
