Airline travel with lithium battery powered devices is regulated by the International Aire Transport Association (IATA). IATA’s current regulation stipulates that air-transported personal electronic devices :

  • Must be powered with batteries below 100 watt-hour
  • Must have been tested and comply with the standard UN 38.3

Some batteries meet both of these requirements. Although IATA’s regulations are a widely considered as a reference, all airlines also have their own regulations. We recommend you to call the airline before taking your board on a flight, especially before international flights.

Some customers remove the battery from the board, take the battery in cabin and check the board separately as a luggage.
